Today we’re sharing a letter from Jamie Harms and a prayer guide for a 24-hour fast in remembrance of Jesus’ atoning sacrifice on our behalf.
From today’s post by Brianna Hines: We have spent a lot of time talking about the spiritual aspect of fasting, but now I want to focus on the physical side. Oftentimes we like to separate ourselves into multiple categories: physical, emotional, spiritual, mental, etc. It is appealing to compartmentalize these things, so we can tackle any issues that arise from one direction at a time. But God didn’t create us with these separate categories. He gave us one body with one soul, one spirit, and one mind all wrapped and woven together. Read more…
Are you afraid to fast because you’re afraid of failing? Are you putting off this spiritual discipline as you wait for the “perfect” time to fast? If so, you’re not alone. Today Brianna Hines reminds us that we will fail at times, but God will use our stumbling to grow us in Him. She shares, “God prefers a messy offering of worship now to a perfect offering of worship later, every time.” So in humility, join other imperfect, struggling women as we humbly rely on the Lord to help us incorporate fasting into our rhythms of worship.
When was the last time you had to humble yourself to do something? Today Brianna Hines reflects on what a remodeling project is teaching her about humility and how it is causing her to consider humility in fasting. Join us at ufcwomen.blog.

Brianna Hines introduces us to the spiritual discipline of fasting with a testimony about how food, not the Lord, served as her main source of security and comfort for most her life. She shares how fasting is a tool that God has been using over the last couple years to break the chains of slavery to her stomach. You won’t want to miss this real, vulnerable, and relatable post today at ufcwomen.blog.
This January UFC Women will focus on the specific spiritual discipline of fasting. We will look at what the Bible has to say about it and how generations of believers have pursued this practice of denying self for the glory of the Father. We will compare biblical fasting to that of the world, and open a discussion about this often neglected spiritual discipline and how it can provide an opportunity for the Holy Spirit to work in us in a way that we may never have allowed Him to before. Click to read or listen to today’s post by Brianna Hines and then sign up using the link at the end of the post for this study, which begins next Thursday, January 6.
