Our prayer is that you will find here a place to be encouraged and challenged in your walk with Jesus Christ. The posts on this site are penned by women of UFC for their sisters at UFC. They are intended as a continuation of discussion begun at Bible study each week about what it looks like to walk with Christ today.

The UFC Women’s STaff Team

Blessed is the woman who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. She will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit. Jeremiah 17:7-8

Jamie Harms (writer, editor, teacher) grew up in Oregon and married her high school sweetheart.  After getting married and living for five years in Baltimore, she now lives in Eugene with her husband and two sons. Besides the privilege of working with women at UFC to help encourage and equip them in their walks with Jesus, she enjoys a good cup of tea with a friend, propping her feet up with a book, cooking a delicious meal, spending time with her family, and taking walks in the beautiful Northwest.

Jaime Sherman (writer, editor, designer) and her husband Andy parent five girls and one boy, so days are rarely quiet and slow. However, Jaime works hard to rest in the Lord and remain rooted in His Word. Her day begins in the stillness of the early hours alone with her Bible and a journal. As she moves through her day, her Bible is always near as she writes, teaches her children, and seeks truth in a world blinded by lies. She treasures time spent with her closest friends, the ones who hold her accountable, who encourage her in the trials of life, and who remind her to rest. She enjoys writing in blank journals, taking long walks, drinking hot cups of tea, eating squares of dark chocolate, and soaking in lavender salt baths.

Brianna Hines (writer, teacher) and her husband Lewis are Oregon natives and have four incredible kids. Brianna is involved with the mom’s gathering, women’s ministry, and Sunday morning worship at UFC. She stays rooted in God’s Word through Bible study and writing, and she finds rest through gardening, reading, and walks with her family.

Joanna Sheppard (mom’s group leader) is a native Oregonian and is proud to call the unique community of Eugene “home.” She met her talented SoCal husband in Bible college and together they have three kids. Joanna loves classic literature, inductive Bible study, worship, craft projects, and spending time with friends and family. She never tires of learning new things, meeting new people, going on retreats, and finding rest by taking time away to be with the Lord. She stays rooted in God’s Word by listening to worship and sound Bible teaching and by staying active in women’s Bible study and mom’s group at UFC.

Kathleen Harwood (leadership) and her husband Mike were long-term “East-Coasters” until they moved to Eugene in 2016 for Mike’s job at the University of Oregon. They love the many opportunities the PNW offers to be outside, especially hiking to waterfalls. They have one son, Blake, who lives in North Carolina and visits often. Mike and Kathleen were excited to find UFC and get involved with a whole new group of Jesus followers. Kathleen especially loves helping women know God through His Word. She serves in women’s ministry writing, teaching, and equipping leaders.
