Friday Feature: Ariel Sax

Hi everyone! My name is Ariel, and I am currently living in Denver, Colorado. Below I have listed a few snippets about who I am, where I’m from, what I do, a few of my favorite hobbies, my favorite Bible verse, and a few things I could use prayer for.

First, I’ll start off with what I do for work.

I currently work with a missions organization called Antioch Center for Training and Sending (ACTS). I first started working with ACTS back in January 2020. Man time is flying by so quickly! This year our organization has partnered with a church here in Denver called Upperroom Denver Church. I help serve on both the church’s and the organization’s media teams. I help manage social media accounts, special video projects, and I oversee media teams. I can’t even begin to tell you the ways I have been challenged and stretched in this past season (all in good ways, I assure you). I have really been learning to trust in God’s leadership more than ever. He is truly good in every season. Despite my circumstances and my uncertainty, He remains strong and unchanging.

Here is a little more about my background:

I moved around a few times when I was younger. I have lived in Mississippi, Indiana, and back in 2012, when I was 15 years old, my family moved to Hawaii. My parents have been there ever since. For college I went to the University of Oregon and graduated in 2018 with a degree in journalism (emphasis in video production). I attended and was very involved in serving at UFC and the college ministry, The Good Fight. I have tons of precious memories at UFC, and I cherish all the years I was there. Throughout my college years in Eugene, the Lord sparked a love for media in my heart. Throughout college I pursued storytelling and video production work, and now I am getting to do that with ACTS and UPPERROOM Denver Church. What a huge blessing!

Here are a few of my favorite hobbies:

I love reading, watching movies and TV shows, grabbing late-night snacks with friends (I’m a night owl), getting outside and doing something active, and playing my piano and singing. I’m a very social person, so I also love spending time with other people and joining them in doing their favorite activities.

Here is one of my favorite Bible verses as I have really been repeating Psalm 27 in this past season:

“One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to inquire in his temple.” Psalm 27:4

I’m constantly reminded that nothing in this life matters more than to sit at the feet of Jesus and gaze upon Him. Everything comes into focus when I look upon Jesus. I don’t even have to say much. He meets us every time when we just simply sit at His feet.

Here is a little bonus fun fact:

It has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember to go to Israel. I was scheduled to travel there this summer, but the trip has just been postponed. I’m trusting God with the details. Because my father is Jewish, I was able to apply to Birthright Israel (an organization that sends young Jewish people to visit Israel ALL expenses paid). I got accepted! It is such a long story of how this all came about and another long story to explain the delay, but it is all clearly evident that God is the reason I am able to go. I’m so excited for next year!

Please be praying for…

  • the details concerning my travels to Israel! I hope to make long-lasting friendships on the trip and learn more about my heritage. And I also want to be safe and healthy traveling overseas.
  • opportunities for our media team to expand. I could use more help!
  • wisdom and discernment in decisions I will be having to make about my future.
