The Angel’s Candle: Peace

Today on this fourth Sunday of Advent we light the Angel’s Candle and remember the good news that the angels proclaimed on the first Christmas more than 2,000 years ago — “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with whom he is pleased!” Peace. The balm of a weary world’s cry.

Light: Angel’s Candle

Read: Luke 2:8-14, John 3:16-17

Listen:

  • Angels We Have Heard On High: This is a mellow version from Phil Wickham that speaks of the stillness of that Christmas night in the fields around Bethlehem and then of the incredible news brought by the angels.
  • Hark the Herald Angels Sing: So many good versions of this Christmas carol have been produced, but for today we’ll share the old favorite from Amy Grant.
  • Angels from the Realms of Glory: Sara Groves has a beautiful version that tells of the worshipful nature of that night.

Family Activity: As a family, pour steaming mugs of hot chocolate or cider, listen to these Christmas carols, and write some cards to drop in the mail or deliver to neighbors, friends, and family, reminding them of the good news that Jesus is here.
